    Clinical “Crazy Bastard” Rhys Millen attempts the first BACK FLIP in a truck for New Years. He makes it, but lands awkwardly.

    I have to assume they practiced it a lot so that they could get the ramp angle right to do the trick. I also have to assume it’s pretty difficult to practice something like this over and over again. How many trucks did they have to build for this? How many stunt drivers were injured trying to perfect the ramp? It’s not as easy as practicing those x-games flying-dirt-bike dudes, because, well, trucks are a lot more expensive and heavy, and you have to stay inside and feel the full fury of the crash each time it happens. Either way… NUTS!

    When I first watched it I thought he was going to stick the landing for sure! Still a pretty crazy attempt! I can’t imagine how sore he was the next morning. haha

    Ya each truck is $150k, and Rhys was the only one to attempt it. Most of the work was done with computers and dirt bikes to try to create the correct calculations for the truck. During practice Rhys broke his back and some other stuff in one of the beginning runs. This was at the beginnning of the Formula D season, thats why he missed out on the first race, but he still came back to win the whole season because he’s the crafty vetter. I was also there on New Years, and to say the least, it was absolutely amazing.

    Cool vid. This is off topic, but I just thought of an idea that you guys could do for your weekly awards. You could have the people who move the most in position in the VDI leaderboard, whether it be up or down. I know this idea needs a little more work, but it could work…

    *I actually like the idea, but I believe that the most active user usually involves a big increase in VDI. So it would often end up being the same person although it is a different area.

    I like the idea of the largest increase in VDI over a week. I don’t think the level of activity is the same as the change in VDI (although it does have an influence on it). VDI also factors in underdog/favorite factors, as well as looking at other patterns of challenges.

    I don’t really understand why you would want to cap it? It has taken me five months of hardly ever missing a race submission and I’m still only just over 3k. 10 is a looooong ways off
