• March 24, 2009 vDream 2.0 Is Coming!

    07:40am by Lijen (Site)

Hello vDreamers! We would like to proudly announce the upcoming release of a whole package of updates that we like to call vDream 2.0!

vDream 2.0 will be a huge change for all players, adding structure and depth to the existing vDream experience. Here’s a quick high level overview of what changes to expect.

    1. Racing Titles
Begin your vDream journey as a “noob” and gradually race your way to become a “Formula 1 Racer”. As you climb in VDI, you will also level up and gain access to more cars, parts, and features.

    2. Feature Unlocking
Alright, happy hour is officially over friends. Users will now have to unlock top notch cars, parts, and advanced race types by achieving specific Racing Titles before they can access them.

    3. Trophies
Earn trophies by reaching certain milestones in the game. A couple examples are “Master Dragster” and “Mr. Baller”.

You might be asking, why vDream 2.0? The reason is simple, we want to reward our most loyal users! New features will now only be accessible to users who have earned their status on vDream. For those of you who are thinking… “Oh no, I was about to buy a thingymajigger, what if it becomes locked?”, do not fret. You’ll have until next week to purchase anything you’d like before we launch these changes.

We’ll make more updates throughout the week to give you a sneak peak at the specific features and to give you more details about what vDream 2.0 means for you. As usual, we’d love to hear your feedback!

now if we already have a high vdi, does that mean we will start off with a high “racing title”?

and when you say unlock cars and parts, does that mean we we cant even see the cars/parts we cant buy or will it just not allow us to buy?

and when will this go into effect?

  • March 24, 2009

you won’t be able to buy, but you can still see it.

this will most likely go into effect early next week

If you have a high vdi, you will start as a noob (oh no!). But as you earn vdi from your daily activities, you will progressively level up. It’s just so you can see each level.

For instance, if you have 1 million VDI. You’ll log in as a noob, accept one challenge, and it’ll say “Congratulations! You are now a _ (level 2)”. Then you send one challenge, and you’ll upgrade levels again. And so on and so forth until your VDI level matches the max level you could be.

You will be able to see the parts available – just won’t be able to buy it.

Looks like it’ll go VERY early next week.

so we get too keep all the cars we have including the money and all the mods we have made so far right???? just depending on vdi we just gain titles?

    - 01:28pm

    by Z

  • March 24, 2009

ok people. From my understanding of this and reading cheech’s post, the jist is that you gain ‘levels’ by vdi boosts and challenges. So going higher on the leaderboard will make you level up faster because you get more challenges thus unlocking more levels faster.

Alright!! I’m psyched! I wanna be Mr. Baller. Will that give me spinners??

Seriously kidding. I am pretty excited. Will those of us in the Top 50 get anything special?

    Great job guys.

And please, can I have a 2002 front end conversion for my NSX?

Other then the titles, I’m not really likeing this. This is vDream, not Mobsters, Mafia Wars, Street Racing, etc. That is what I LOVED about this game! Now it’s gonna turn into one of “those” games. Oh well, whatever, lets see how it turns out…..maybe it won’t be soo bad? I sure hope not!

I like the idea, i’m just worried that I’ll need a 10000 VDI (which I honestly don’t know how people get that high) just to have some of the coolest stuff. I like to think I play fairly often, but how often will be enough?

  • March 24, 2009

You will keep all the cars/parts that you already have, of course. And yes, this is definitely a trial run. The VDI leveling is subject to change.

    - 10:57pm

    by Cheechoo

  • March 24, 2009

    To all, following Cheechoo’s comment-

We have talked a lot about this to make sure we don’t just turn into “one of those apps” and we want to do something that adds another level to the game. That being said, I don’t think you will find yourself severely limited on being able to buy cars/parts. You will have to race a few more races, maybe, but in the end, I think you guys will all like it. The trophies will add a lot also, kind of like achievements add to an xbox 360 game.

With the whole starting over concept…You aren’t starting from scratch. The first race you accept will level you up to the next level. The next race you accept will take you to the next level, and so on until you are titled at the correct level. That way you get to see the progression that everyone else starting out will see.

    - 11:52pm

    by Daniel- VDPD

  • March 25, 2009

Wait up…..there’s gonna be trophies??? Woa!!! Did I totally skip that part when I was reading thru it? LoL Damn, I think I do need glasses! hahaha

    - 12:30am

    by LXS

  • March 25, 2009

Yeah you guys will definitely like the new update even though it will be a little different at first! Leveling up has been thought through a lot and should be just about right. You certainly won’t miss out on any major content if your vdi isn’t the highest right now, but you should be motivated to get to that next level! It should bring in some extra strategy and something to work towards of course.

  • March 25, 2009

idk if i like the levels idea, its not very realistic. In real racing you can race whoever you want as long as they accept

    - 02:35am

    by T-Hawk

  • March 25, 2009

You still can race anyone you want as long as they accept.

i guess but im still not sure about being limited with cars

    - 03:11pm

    by T-Hawk

  • March 25, 2009

if youre worried about being limited with cars, just take the obvious solution to aviod it, BRING UP YOUR VDI!! hahaha, then you wont be limited! i think this will be a good idea so rookies cant instantly buy an rx7 and upgrade it to its max and keep up with my gt3 or 911 turbo…

  • March 25, 2009

oh no ill be fine, ive got a vette a supra and a lotus and 50k for another car when ever the new parking garage comes out but i just think that limiting cars is unrealistic

    - 05:12pm

    by T-Hawk

  • March 25, 2009

I think that giving vdollars to people who BUY things is what was wrong with this App. Thats the reason there are people with low VDI and expensive cars. I like the idea of making people race to earn their cars!!!

    - 05:42pm

    by Troy

  • March 25, 2009

Wow! This sounds amazing! If I stumble upon the car of my dreams, I can take it without paying for it and rise up the ranks? :D

    - 07:11pm

    by Hassan

  • March 25, 2009

Having the option to buy things in this application is what keeps the application afloat. It is free for us to use, but not for them to run. 50,000 vDollars is hardly enough to exploit the system. If someone decides they want to spend 50 dollars to get a saleen, they are more than welcome to. The number of people who have done that can be counted on one hand, and hardly brings down the quality of the application.

  • March 25, 2009

not too thrilled about this ive been saving for a long time to get a s7 and now that this new version is coming into place based on my vdi i will have to wait longer to get what i want, and even if i get the car i want ill have to wait even longer to get parts, which i think is unfair. its very unrealistic to have levels, i think vdream was fine the way it is now..

    - 08:25pm

    by joey g.

  • March 25, 2009

Joey odds are, if you have been active enough to save for a saleen, you won’t be far away on the VDI side. This method also prevents people from just using the collectibles to buy cars that most people work for.

(sorry i missed a few words up there)

    - 02:48am

    by Converse

  • March 26, 2009

Converse, this system was set in place such that new features can be exclusive to people with higher VDI, this is one of the big reasons why we’re introducing the system. So that not everyone starts with the same capabilities.

  • March 27, 2009

OK, so how is this “special car” feature that’s supposed to be coming out going to interact with this deal? Are we going to have to be at a certain level to buy “special cars” and are those cars going to be numbers limited?

yea how about adding a 1998 or newer crown victoria…NOT a lincoln. oh and how about it be a little easer to get money and have 2 or more spots to have a car.
