So we are making a small change today in terms of when we award money… you won’t be getting that $50 bucks when you send a challenge anymore but you should get it once the challenge gets accepted.

Why?? Our friends at Facebook have once again pointed out that we broke their terms of service. We are shooting to get accepted as a Facebook Verified Application. Keep your fingers crossed.

February 02, 2009 Street Truck in vDream, and February Collectible!

Hello vDreamers! I’m happy to announce the release of the truck poll winner from a couple weeks ago! The Dodge SRT-10 has been added to vDream as the first ever TRUCK! This heavy truck is more of a cruising ride than a race car, but it sure does look sweet.

Also, we’ve released the February Monthly Collectible. In good Valentine’s day fashion, show your love for your car by throwing on a vDream Heart-shaped Hood Ornament! Valentine’s day is for girls anyway, might as well give the vLadies a little something extra!

Ice cream is gonna save the day!

For all of you old timers who were here for the original Day From Hell (and for those of you not here, don’t worry, you didn’t miss out on much)... we bring you the sequel! Day From Hell 2: When Your Server Runs Into A Tree.

We experienced a little bit of down time last night and earlier today, but don’t fret, the server is still floating in the Atlantic and is going to be just fine. We have in fact been experiencing increased load in the past month, which we are trying hard to accommodate without having to spend all of Cheechoo’s lunch money. The server should be back up and running now, although it will probably be a little sluggish for a day or so. Thanks as always for bearing with us!

January 27, 2009 Weekly Awards, Parking Lot, and a New Truck!

Greetings vDreamers! We’ve released our latest parking structure: Charon! It’s our cheapest one yet, and largest in terms of quantity, so don’t be shy! It looks a little dark and grim, but I’m sure your dark cars would look great in there!

Also, we’ve closed the Truck Poll. We had our biggest poll yet, with a total of 8984 votes! The winner is… drumroll… The Dodge SRT-10! The Dodge won with 3523 votes, followed by the Ford Lightning with 2233, then the Chevy Silverado with 1776, and then the GMC Syclone with 1452 (doh!). We’ve started the truck already, and it WILL be out within two weeks. By the way… According to the vDream community, toilet paper should be hanged from the FRONT (6800 votes to 2184).

On to the weekly awards!

Most Active User: Colin Huxted, with 538 Activity points. Colin and his wife are both avid vDreamers, and both have won Most Active user! Congrats!

Most Losses: Pat Brown, with 204 losses. You don’t need the extra cash, but you get it anyway!

Car of the Week: Sven Negrassus, with a very tasteful use of the new tints on a very classy looking Murcielago. Looking great!

Unfortunately, there is some bad news. Our content guy, Cheechoo, got mugged this weekend, and they took his laptop, with ALL VDREAM IMAGES on it. Luckily, most of it was backed up about a month ago. Content will still be pushed out, but we might be a little slow for the next couple of weeks. Sorry in advance!

January 24, 2009 Whats in store for '09

This post is meant to be an “annual report” of sorts for all of our dedicated users to sum up the happenings in ‘08 and to give you an idea of whats in store for ‘09.

2008 was a great year for us since the launch of the vDream Racing Facebook Application! As you all know, we have come a long way through pure blood, sweat, and tears to develop vDream into what it is today. vDream launched in late June with 5 cars, and as it stands today boasts over 20 cars and 1800 parts in our database, each being manually created extraordinary amounts tender loving care. There are over 25,000 challenges sent a day on vDream, and we currently have over 25,000 active users across both MySpace and Facebook who, most importantly, give us insightful feedback on a daily basis. As a topper, we competed in and won the first round of fbFund late last year, which was a proud achievement for the whole team.

So 2008 was a great year for us, but what’s on our plate for 09? The vision for vDream has always been to create a thriving community of car enthusiasts who can interact with each other through a virtual playground of different gaming and community features. In the next few months we will be working on patching up some basic usability issues with our interface to make the simple things like buying your first car and sending challenges easier. Moving forward from there, our focus will be on creating a thriving community by developing a discussion area for our users to talk about and show off their vDreams. We are also going to spend some time throughout the year creating a deeper and more strategic game that includes nuances in the racing, driver experience, and VDI systems. We have gotten a ton of great ideas from the community including custom paint jobs, car shows, decals, and part types that include NOS and tires. These are all things that we believe in, and we will push hard to deliver to our users in ‘09.

Lastly, I want to give a huge shot out to our users. I know I say this all the time, but we are greatly appreciative for all the support. I’d like to take a sec to acknowledge our mods and beta testers who have been working so hard on the boards and making vDream the thriving community that it is.

January 23, 2009 A British Track Monster Appears! Run!

vDream would like to introduce its latest SURPRISE for the community – the Lotus Elise. We’ve had this one in our back pockets for some time now (as many of you have seen from our video). But we decided to wait until there was significant demand for it. The recent open car poll was that demand, as many have already enthusiastically voted for it.

This car is the lightest and most agile car on vDream to date, and is sure to post some spectacular vDream Raceway times, as it is a very tight track.

Aftermarket is sparse, but you can help, by submitting a part. You can make a pretty vpenny if the part ends up on vDream, as well!

Take a look at the existing tints in the parts shop. Some new options.

vDream is pleased to announce the release of one of the past poll winners, the Porsche 911 Turbo, more precisely known as the 930! This old bird is sure to scream around the track at light speed, with the proper modifications. A great addition to a true enthusiast’s dream garage.
