And now, for this week’s awards, the golds go to:

Most Active: Josh Ferguson, with a whopping 364 activity points. Hats off, my man. That is a lot of random challenges, and that is a lot of invites.

Most Losses: Matt Lambert, with 100 losses. Your times are lookin a lot better, this award should help a bit.

Car of the week: Christina Park, our first lady vDreamer car of the week award! Sweet Scooby there, Christina.

POLL RESULTS

The latest poll results are in, and we had an amazing 297 votes! For the different car type, the Old American Muscle tore up the competition with 56% of the votes, 26% for kit/track cars, 11% for vintage euro, and a mere 7% for SUV/pickups. What, nobody wants to see a Hummer on vDream? 20 second quarter miles too fast for you? On the other side, we had a real nail-biter between the Koenigsegg and the Saleen. It was back-and-forth for days, but the Saleen S7 will be the next vDream. It won with 28% of the votes, followed by 26% for the Koenigsegg, 24% for the Mercedes, and 23% for the Porsche. That poll was a really close one.

All in all, it was a great poll turnout! Great job vDream community! The next poll will surface in the next few days.

oh… and you’ll see the poll rewards within the next few days too, once i get the 4 hrs it takes to sit down and manually reward you…

August 14, 2008 Olympic Fever! And Introducing vDream Collectibles!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been watching a lot of the Olympics lately. This got us here at the vDream Headquarters (also known as Starbuck’s or Tully’s or My Apartment) thinking that we should offer something Olympics-related. So we decided to make a few things:

• Olympic Flags
• Olympic Torch
• Gold Medal

The torch is something you can sport on your dashboard, the gold medal is something you can sport hanging from your rear view mirror, and the flags are on the outside of your car. We offer the Olympic flag and a handful of countries’ flags. The countries we chose to represent, are the countries that have the most users on vDream. Checking our google analytics, we can see where our hits are coming from, and these 15 or so countries are on the top of that list. If your country hasn’t been represented, go invite some people from your country!

These items will only be available during the span of the Olympics

We are also introducing a new concept to vDream: the concept of vDream Limited Edition Collectibles. These are items that we will throw in every now and then as little easter-egg type items which will only be available for a short time, and they may be worth a lot of vDollars down the road. So if you’re thinking about sticking around on vDream, you should grab one of these, and hold on to it for dear life. It could be worth millions of vDollars a year from now! The first vDream Limited Edition Collectible is the vDream Medallion ver. 1.

An important note: if you plan on keeping these items, remember to uninstall them if you plan on changing your car, otherwise they will be sold along with your car!!!

August 13, 2008 Over 10K Installs!

Today we reached a HUGE milestone for vDream, 10K installs! I remember when we first launched the app and had no idea how well it was gonna do, Cheechoo & I decided that vDream would be considered a success if we hit 10K installs. Well, we’ve hit 10K so we’re officially a success, and I’m officially excited!

Not to get too sentimental here or anything, but thanks to all of our users that have helped us grow and seed this community in the past 2 months. vDream has a bright future, and it all starts here with you, our first generation of users. We can’t stress how much your feedback and great ideas have and will help mold the development of this app.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, I’ve posted a few random images of how I feel right now (and no, none of these is me, although i wouldn’t mind being that one guy in the bottom picture…)

Lijen and Cheechoo went to the Gumball 3000 kickoff this year in San Francisco. It started on Sacramento St, with all the cars parading through the city before they set off for southern california. The parade went down Lombard St, the famous windy road in the Marina district. Unfortunately, we missed the tesla! But there were plenty of Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, a couple Astons, a couple old school American Muscle cars, and even 2 Scion xB’s, yeaya!

Oh yeah, by the way, that black R8 is David Hasselhoff’s R8, haha. Unfortunately he wasn’t driving it, though.

Welcome, vDreamers! We apologize for the downtime, and the slow unveiling of new cars. Team vDream has been arduously working on releasing content for you, so much that it is 5:00AM right now, and I just finished uploading all the parts into the system. Please forgive us for the lagging! In return, we give you a DUAL CAR RELEASE!!! Here it is:

The winners of the two past polls are here! The fabled and feared Godzilla and his agile dirt-loving friend Scooby have entered vDream. Both Japanese AWD monsters, they’re sure to tear up any track.

Some insider tips: The GTR, since it was actually released in the US just last month, has somewhat of a sparse aftermarket, so keep that in mind when making your purchase. Also to keep in mind, if you really want to see some parts for it right away, Submit a Part Suggestion here! Have fun exploring the two new additions to the vDream family!

As many of you have probably noticed… vDream is back up and running! Dam it feels good to be back. To make a long story short, we were having growth issues and decided to move off to a new hosting solution. Definitely let us know if you are experiencing slow page loads or and newly introduced bugs. Otherwise, get back in there and start winning some more races!

Thanks again for all the patience. And don’t think we forgot about that GTR. It did get pushed back a little because of this minor set back (aka crazy server mayhem), but it will be coming VERY SOON.
